The VOCALOID7 Editor is scheduled for release on November 11 at 16,500 yen including tax. Users of VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 can buy an upgrade version for 8,580 yen including tax, and from November 11 to December 20 that upgrade costs 5,500 yen including tax. All voicebanks from VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 remain usable, and both the standard and upgrade versions include the voicebank asa. Buyers who purchase VOCALOID6 Editor on or after October 9 receive a 5,500 yen coupon for the VOCALOID SHOP. Internet Co., Ltd. will release VOCALOID7 Voicebank AI Megpoid the same day at 16,500 yen including tax, or 13,200 yen when bought with the editor. That voicebank is produced based on the voice of singer and voice actor Megumi Nakajima and is optimized for VOCALOID7's AI technology.
The older voicebank compatibility and the upgrade pricing suggest Yamaha is treating VOCALOID7 as a transition for existing users rather than a clean break, which is why Crypton Future Media announced free VOCALOID7-compatible Hatsune Miku V6 voicebanks for existing users and a planned switch of the bundled editor to VOCALOID7 Editor.

Crypton Future Media also announced plans for Hatsune Miku V6 alongside the VOCALOID7 reveal. The company plans to provide VOCALOID7-compatible Japanese and English voicebanks free of charge to all existing users at as early a stage as possible in 2027. After the release of VOCALOID7, the editor bundled with each Hatsune Miku V6 product is scheduled to be switched to VOCALOID7 Editor.

The new Megpoid voicebank ships with eight switchable voice types. Users can move between Native, Whisper, Cute, Downer, Power, Soft, Vivid, and Ballade. Yamaha says the voicebank achieves natural expression and unprecedented freedom of singing through VOCALOID7's AI technology. The Megpoid bundle discount applies to purchases that include any voicebank sold at the VOCALOID SHOP, not just VOCALOID7 voicebanks.

VOCALOID7 arrives about four years after VOCALOID6, which was released in October 2022. VOCALOID itself has been on the market since its release in 2003. The early-purchase upgrade price of 5,500 yen makes the upgrade essentially free for buyers who purchase a VOCALOID6 Editor bundle on or after October 9 and receive the 5,500 yen VOCALOID SHOP coupon. Yamaha has not detailed VOCALOID7's other new features or voicebanks, saying more will be announced later.

VOCALOID7's upgrade window runs 5,500 yen through December 20, the price that matters most for VOCALOID3 to VOCALOID6 owners deciding whether a seven-year-old toolchain is worth migrating.
VOCALOID7's cheapest entry point is a 5,500 yen upgrade running through December 20, aimed at VOCALOID3 to VOCALOID6 holdouts.
VOCALOID7's real pricing decision is the upgrade tier: 5,500 yen through December 20, then 8,580 yen. Yamaha is keeping every prior voicebank usable, so the pitch to VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 owners is continuity plus AI Megpoid, not a forced rebuild.
Yamaha announced VOCALOID7 and set the editor for a November 11 release at 16,500 yen, with an 8,580 yen upgrade path for owners of VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6.
