Game Spark pairs the news with an interview with Sadao Onoe, chairman of the Japan Hunters Association, who describes falling firearm-hunting license numbers, rising boar and deer damage, and practical countermeasures: hide crops behind sheet metal, mow surrounding grass, and apply to local government for pest culling.
The interview puts the simulation's subject matter next to the real thing the game sells, and the chairman's answer is that fencing and scent tactics fail against boar that learn, which is a more grounded framing than the genre's own marketing usually gets.

THQ Nordic will release the PS5 packaged edition of Way of the Hunter 2 on November 26. The hunting simulation is already out digitally on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

For the occasion, Game Spark asked Sadao Onoe, chairman of the Japan Hunters Association, about the current state of hunting. Firearm hunting licenses are declining while trap hunting grows, and the association's membership has fallen from about 400,000 to about 100,000. Boar have recovered after a swine fever drop, deer are increasing sharply, and processing facilities for culled animals are in short supply.

Asked about a staff member's garden, wrecked by boar despite fencing, Onoe was blunt: crops must not be visible from outside the fence, and low sheet-metal panels around the mesh help. Electric fencing is expensive up front but eligible for municipal subsidies. Culling requires an application to local government, and traps are the practical route near housing.

Way of the Hunter 2 ships physically in Japan while Sadao Onoe says firearm-hunting license numbers are falling.
