As of November 3 it covers 846 titles, including region variants: 357 game cards, 453 key cards, 30 code-in-box releases, and 6 unknown. Volunteers verify each entry, and the operator says no guessed data is published.","whyItMatters":"The site's own tally, with key card releases outnumbering game cards, turns a format debate that Nintendo prompted with Switch 2 into a lookup table buyers can check before paying for a box.","webCardHtml":"\u003cp\u003eThe people behind the site have run the same catalog on X since 2025 and also ship it as an Android app; the new website is that collected data compiled for browsing. Entries are split by region where a game ships in different formats in different markets, and the operator states the database contains nothing based on guesswork, only verified information.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNintendo Switch 2 packaged software comes in three formats: a game card with the data on the card, a key card holding only a launch key with the game downloaded on first play, and a code in a box with no card at all. Key cards are said to lower manufacturing costs for developers, while giving up the insert-and-play convenience and storage savings of a game card. The site\u0026#39;s count as of November 3 does not claim to cover every Switch 2 packaged release.\u003c/p\u003e","blueskyPost":"Key cards outnumber game cards 453 to 357 in the volunteer count for Switch 2 packaged releases, so the format question is the norm on the shelf, not an exception.","twitterPost":"Switch 2's key cards outnumber real game cards 453 to 357 in the volunteer tally, so the format ambiguity is the default case.","threadsPost":"The Is Game Key Card? tally puts Switch 2 key cards at 453 against 357 game cards, which makes the ambiguous format the common case rather than an outlier. The database exists because the box itself does not say which one you are buying.","newsletterBlurb":"A volunteer-run site called \"Is Game Key Card?\" opened on November 2 to record which format each packaged Nintendo Switch 2 release uses: game card, key card, or code in a box.
