The Steam version reached a peak of 120,324 concurrent players, surpassing the original game's all-time record of 92,268 set at its May 2015 launch. The remaster includes enhanced textures, models, and lighting, a revamped skill tree, updated combat animations, a reforging feature for equipment appearance, and an expanded photo mode. It also bundles the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. Owners of the original game can upgrade for free on most platforms, though upgrading from the PS4 or Switch versions costs 100 yen. A new expansion, Songs of the Past, is scheduled for 2027, and The Witcher 4 is in development for a planned 2028 release.","whyItMatters":"This remaster's Steam peak already exceeds the 2015 launch record, which suggests strong demand for replaying the game on modern hardware without a paid re-purchase.","webCardHtml":"\u003cp\u003eThe remaster ships with a known PC bug: saves become impossible after applying the update, and Game Spark advises moving the Documents folder to a path without double-byte characters or waiting for a fix.
