The review says the episode builds its armies and sets the Hojo Clan Warriors on the battlefield, then stops at a cliffhanger before the climax. The reviewer reads the ending as a cue for viewers to go read the manga.
The review argues the season spent its run on false starts and stalling, so the finale closes a run the reviewer says lacked narrative focus rather than delivering the rematch the season had set up.

The season finale spends its runtime assembling armies and sending the Hojo Clan Warriors onto the battlefield. Then it cuts away before the climax, in what the review describes as a cliffhanger, and the reviewer reads the final beat as a prompt to go read the manga.

The review ties that ending back to the season's structure: lost battles, failed assassinations, and enemies who escape as quickly as they arrive. The rematch the season set up with Shokan never gets its payoff.

The Elusive Samurai's season 2 finale puts the Hojo Clan Warriors on the battlefield, then cuts before the fight. A 3.7 score reads that as a handoff to the manga.
The Elusive Samurai assembles its armies and sets the Hojo Clan Warriors on the battlefield, then stops. The 3.7 community score lands on that choice: the reviewer reads the cliffhanger as a cue for viewers to go read the manga rather than a finished season.
The Elusive Samurai's second season ends at episode 12 without resolving the rematch it spent episodes setting up. The finale assembles the armies and the Hojo Clan Warriors, then freezes before the climax. The review reads the ending as a cue to go read the manga, and ties it to a season that mostly stalled.
[{"source":"Anime News Network","url":"https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/the-elusive-samurai-season-2/episode-12/.242430","title":"The Elusive Samurai Season 2 Episode 12\
{"anime_titles":["The Elusive Samurai"],"manga_titles":[],"work_titles":[],"studios":[],"people":[],"type":"review","domain":"anime","is_roundup":false}
["The Elusive Samurai
