Sofmap is accepting reservations on a dedicated page. The notebook runs on the NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X, a chip pairing an Arm-based Grace CPU with an RTX GPU. The top configuration carries a 6144-core Blackwell RTX GPU, a 20-core Grace CPU, and up to 128GB of unified memory, enough to run AI models above 120B parameters locally and reach up to 1 petaflop of AI performance. The 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen peaks at 2000 nits. The chassis stays under 18mm thick and under 2kg, using a new thermal design rated at up to 2.5 times the capacity of existing Surface Laptops. Storage is user-removable, and charging moves to a magnetic USB Type-C system called Magnetic Connect. Microsoft's US price starts at $2599.","whyItMatters":"Microsoft is selling the Surface Laptop Ultra at 513,480 yen and up in Japan, a price that sits well above its $2599 US starting point.","webCardHtml":"\u003cp\u003eThe Surface Laptop Ultra is not the only device in this launch. Microsoft also opened pre-orders for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a portable mini PC built around the same RTX Spark platform with up to 1 petaflop of AI performance and 128GB of unified memory. The Dev Box ships with developer tools preloaded, among them Visual Studio Code, Git, GitHub CLI, GitHub Copilot, WSL, Python, and Node, a setup meant to cut environment configuration time. It pre-orders at $5999 and, as of the time of writing, sells only on Microsoft.com in the United States, with shipping starting in November 2026. The charging change is the detail most likely to divide buyers: the Laptop Ultra drops the usual Surface Connect port for Magnetic Connect, a magnetic USB Type-C cable that attaches to the port on the right side and can also carry video and data. Microsoft describes it as the world\u0026#39;s first magnetic USB-C charging built into a laptop. Microsoft says it built a deep partnership with NVIDIA to tune Windows for RTX Spark, and designed the device from scratch.\u003c/p\u003e","blueskyPost":"Surface Laptop Ultra: 1 petaflop of AI performance, 128GB unified memory, under 18mm thin.
