Players take the role of a new spook, an investigator, aboard the ocean survey vessel HMS Solbrand, piloting a submersible through the submerged ruins of Urarakil, a reimagined sunken version of Uppsala, Sweden, where Norse myth is filtered through cosmic horror. The game is planned for release on PC via Steam.
The demo puts Dead People Dreaming's dual-perspective investigation loop, top-down for terrain and first-person for detail, in front of players ahead of a Steam launch, which is the point at which a small studio's puzzle adventure either finds an audience or does not.

Dead People Dreaming sets the demo aboard the survey ship Solbrand, where a crew waits above the water: the captain, Tinker, Warder, and Shimmer. Below, players switch between a top-down view for reading terrain and a first-person view for close inspection, using a tool called Vizier to examine ruins buried in seabed sediment.

Collected fragments go to an archive on the ship for analysis, and strengthening the signal opens new exploration areas. Named locations in sunken Urarakil include a psychiatric hospital, a botanical garden, a burned cathedral, and an old observatory. The demo downloads from its own page.

Solbrand sets its cosmic horror in a sunken Uppsala, so the puzzle work and the Norse myth share one drowned map. Dead People Dreaming is betting atmosphere carries the demo, not a combat loop.
Solbrand reskins Uppsala as the drowned ruins of Urarakil, and the demo asks you to read Norse myth through cosmic horror while piloting a submersible.
Solbrand's hook is the setting swap: Uppsala becomes Urarakil, a sunken ruin you survey by submersible, with Norse myth filtered through cosmic horror. Dead People Dreaming is selling dread and puzzle-solving on one map rather than a combat loop.
Dead People Dreaming released a demo for Solbrand, a cosmic horror puzzle adventure set in the submerged ruins of a reimagined Uppsala.
