Critics praised its hand-drawn animation, detective investigation and David Lynch influences; DualShockers called it an intelligent love letter to Lynch that also draws on Silent Hill.
For a debut studio releasing a Lynch-indebted Metroidvania in an October horror window, four platform Metascores clustered at 85 or above is the kind of reception that turns a small release into a word-of-mouth title, and at least one critic put it above Silent Hill: Townfall.

The scores are high but not unanimous. Screen Hype gave the PC version a perfect 100 and told readers unfamiliar with horror, Metroidvania or detective fiction to try it anyway. CGMagazine was equally unreserved, calling it a masterpiece. At the other end, Checkpoint Gaming landed at 70, judging that the game borrows heavily from its contemporaries while still finding its own footing.

DualShockers, at 95, described the combat as an adjustment that takes time to click, and warned that the investigation layer at the game's core may be harsh on players who do not pay attention.
