Without strong magical or physical ability, she turns to business and strategy to build an army against the Demon King's remaining forces in the countryside. The episode follows the aftermath of the Demon King's death, including still-enslaved humans.
The premiere treats the post-victory cleanup, the ruined engagement, and Romelia's non-combat skills as the actual story, rather than the fight that is already over.

The crown prince breaks the engagement, the royal family and the church spread rumors, and Romelia's father, a mere baron, can do nothing about it. So the episode puts her on a different track: negotiations, commander selection, and organizing an army against the Demon King's still-active subordinates, with humans still enslaved in the countryside. The premiere also gives her moments of doubt about the people lost along the way, and closes with a farewell to her mother that carries no promise of return. Its action sequences and demon king design get attention as well, though a reviewer's gripe about repeated fade transitions is the one note against it.

Romelia War Chronicle episode 1 follows a disgraced hero after the Demon King is dead.
