Leaker KeplerL2 claims PS6 memory alone costs about US$680, and Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed Helix will run from US$1,200 to US$1,800. Component contracts run until at least 2028, and developers are already lined up to make games for both machines.
Console pricing is being set by memory supply contracts running to 2028, not by launch strategy, so neither Sony nor Microsoft has room to come in cheap even if demand collapses.

The pricing picture is coming from the supply side rather than the platform holders. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed Helix at US$1,200 to US$1,800, and the same memory shortage pushing that figure is expected to hit the PS6. Contract terms on components run until at least 2028, longer if the shortage holds. That timeline leaves little room for a price correction before launch, and deals to supply developers with dev kits are likely already in motion.

PlayStation 6: KeplerL2 claims memory alone costs about US$680; bill of materials around US$1000 as of June

Xbox Helix: CEO Asha Sharma confirmed US$1,200 to US$1,800

KeplerL2's PS6 memory figure of about US$680 is the part that travels: it is a component cost cited before the console has a price, and contracts run to 2028, so the floor is set early.
PS6 memory alone at about US$680, per KeplerL2, explains why the Xbox Helix range starts at US$1,200.
KeplerL2's claim that PS6 memory alone runs about US$680 is the detail that carries.
