Players work with small eco-robots to restore land covered in garbage and oil, placing plants, structures, and restoration tools. Cleaning and recycling earn eco points that unlock buildings, upgrades, and restoration technologies. A free demo is available on Steam, with participation in October's Steam Next Fest planned.
Schaedler made the pitch specific at the right moment: a trailer timed to a demo that is already live and a Steam Next Fest slot, with a release window of Q1 2027, so the game has a public build in front of players months before launch.

The trailer arrives while a free demo for Open Land is already on Steam, and the game is scheduled to take part in Steam Next Fest in October. Schaedler cites nature restoration games such as Terra Nil as an influence, and the trailer shows the loop those games established: plants and restoration tools go into ruined ground, eco points come out, and the unlocked buildings and technologies let players restore a wider area faster. Foxes and deer appear once the land recovers, and the goal at that stage is a balanced habitat the animals can live in. Release is planned for Q1 2027.

Open Land's loop makes the land itself the scoreboard: richer soil pulls in animals, so the ecology players rebuild becomes the feedback that tells them they are playing well.
Open Land turns restored ecology into feedback: richer land draws animals in, making the wildlife itself the progress meter.
Open Land ties its reward loop to ecology rather than a counter: making land lush pulls animals in on their own, so players read progress off the habitat they rebuilt instead of a number.
The German developer Ralph Schaedler posted a new gameplay trailer for Open Land on its Steam page.
