The 2D action game stars Little Red Riding Hood from Grimm's Fairy Tales, who carries two knives and kills the witches and monsters of other fairy tales. Its black-and-white visuals draw on Lotte Reiniger's cutout animation and Japanese ink painting, with the screen dyed red in violent scenes. The game does not support Japanese display at present.
LogiK is leading with art direction: black-and-white cutout and ink-painting visuals that flood red in violent scenes, paired with a map-less forest read through relics carried out of dead bosses.

Bosses come from folklore: Koschei the Deathless, described as an evil magician, and Baba Yaga, who lives in a hut with chicken legs. A beaten boss leaves a relic such as chains, a skull, or ice fragments, hung on the roots of the World Tree. The next hunt can carry two relics, and Baba Yaga's skull burns brambles and reveals hidden things. Combat pairs knife attacks with timed parries, dashes, and jumps off enemy attacks; breaking a boss's stance opens a finishing blow. The forest has no map. Red Riding Hood turns her blue-lined coat inside out to see spirits and liars.

Once Upon a Kill pairs Lotte Reiniger's cutout animation with Japanese ink painting. The black-and-white art turns red in violent scenes, so the kills are where the palette breaks.
LogiK has dated its 2D action game Once Upon a Kill for PC on January 15, 2027.
