The demo of Nonapurna Nine: Asymptote let players pick a fragment of scattered scenes from the main story or a special area for returning players. Players control an Observer, guided by a program navigator called Guide, who meet test subject Nonapurna Nine and a communication partner named Billion. Steam lists a 2027 release for PC.
A 14-year development run on a self-funded sci-fi adventure, still without a firm date beyond a 2027 Steam listing, says more about how this project is financed than about what the demo showed.

The TGS2026 demo split into two paths: a fragment assembled from single scenes across the main story, and a special area reserved for players of an earlier limited version, where new events play out in a new location.

Test subject Nonapurna Nine and Billion, described as the test subject one after her, both lack memories. Billion drives Guide out and the two agree to cooperate to escape the facility. A later event has Nonapurna Nine ask for clothes once they leave, and Billion offer to buy her any except an extremely high-end brand. The demo closed on a video showing a girl who is neither of them, with hints at wheeled insect-like organisms and a repeating 32nd floor.

Nonapurna Nine: Asymptote has been in development long enough that TGS2026 demo players are sampling an unfinished story, not a vertical slice. Steam's 2027 date puts the full release at least a year out.
Nonapurna Nine: Asymptote is still in development 14 years in. Steam lists 2027, so TGS2026 hands players a fragment, not a finished cut.
Nonapurna Nine: Asymptote has been in development long enough that its TGS2026 demo is structured as scenes from the main story plus an area for returning players. That framing treats the show floor as a touchpoint for people already following the project, not a first-contact pitch. Steam lists 2027 for PC.
Nonapurna Nine: Asymptote was playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held September 17 to 20 at Makuhari Messe.
