The company announced the change on October 16, citing rising prices for repair parts. CPU board repairs, which cover issues such as a console that will not turn on or a frozen screen, rise by about 10,000 yen. For the Switch 2 that repair goes from 27,500 yen to 37,400 yen. LCD unit repairs and some CPU board work go from 15,400 yen to 16,500 yen. Other repairs climb by roughly 1,000 yen. The original Switch sees the same pattern, with CPU board work up about 10,000 yen and other parts up about 1,000 yen. Prices for peripherals such as the dock and Joy-Con stay unchanged. Repairs arriving before the November 16 cutoff are handled at the current prices.
Semiconductor component supply is tight enough that Nintendo is now charging more to fix consoles it already sold, a cost that lands on owners rather than the hardware's launch price.

Nintendo said the reason is rising prices for repair parts, and the company did not give a more specific explanation for the increase. The tight supply and demand for semiconductor components is hitting memory and other products, and game hardware is no exception. Major semiconductor companies predict that this tight supply and demand will continue into 2027.

The notice went out through Nintendo Support's account on October 16, 2026: "Due to rising prices for repair parts, we will revise the repair prices for Nintendo Switch 2 / Nintendo Switch consoles for repairs arriving at our company on or after Monday, November 16, 2026." Repairs are accepted at the existing prices for roughly one month from the announcement.

The exact figures differ by outlet. Denfaminicogamer lists the CPU board repair as a flat increase of 9,900 yen including tax for every model, with LCD screen repair, game card slot damage, inability to read SD cards, and no sound up a flat 1,100 yen including tax. Automaton describes the LCD screen and battery replacement as rising about 1,000 to 2,000 yen.

Amounts listed for each model are reference prices. If replacing or repairing the listed parts does not resolve the issue, other parts are used, and the final amount differs.

Nintendo's November 16 repair cutoff prices a dead CPU board on Switch 2 at 37,400 yen, up from 27,500.
