Development continues, with Naoki Nagai, credited on Kamaitachi no Yoru x3 and Bravely Default II, supervising the scenario. Narunii also recounted the mistakes he says he made running the project.
Bringing in a scenario supervisor with credits on established commercial titles is the concrete step Narunii can point to after a 2023 crowdfunding campaign of about 50.85 million yen and a team walkout that left the game with almost nothing playable.

Narunii described the collapse in his own terms. He met the former director, nicknamed Goblow, through his YouTube work, and the two split the project with Narunii on scenario and promotion and the other man on development and personnel. He said he started development without a hierarchy, worked without a proper contract because he thought a hierarchy was unnecessary among friends, and never updated the agreement after the crowdfunding. He also said he proposed ideas early on that caused confusion, then agreed to stop interfering and left the development floor entirely to his partner.

When the former director was asked to step down, the remaining data did not match the claim that 60% was done. Narunii compared it to opening a pot and finding water but no ingredients.

Narunii's refund line and the Naoki Nagai hire are the same message: Chikai no Fuchi survives as a smaller promise, with the story handed to someone who has shipped a visual novel before.
Naoki Nagai supervising Chikai no Fuchi's scenario is Narunii buying credibility the project cannot build itself after four stalled years.
Chikai no Fuchi continues, and Narunii's refund talk sits next to the Naoki Nagai hire for a reason. A project that reportedly ran at 0-1% working cannot argue its way back; it needs a name attached to the scenario that players recognize from Kamaitachi no Yoru x3 and Bravely Default II.
Narunii has announced that development of Chikai no Fuchi continues, with Naoki Nagai supervising the scenario.
