It measures about 12.7 cm and weighs about 99 g, against 15.3 cm and 230 g for the standard 2017 model. It is priced at 49.99 USD in the U.S. and 8,000 yen in Japan, where pre-orders are open and release appears set for November 4.
The Nano cuts the standard pad's length by roughly a fifth and its weight by more than half while keeping the same 18 inputs, which is Microsoft's bid to sell a second controller to players who found the standard one too large or too heavy.

The Nano keeps the same 18 input operations as the standard controller, including customizable buttons for screenshots, captures, and shortcuts, and supports XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth connections. The difference is the power source: the standard XBOX Wireless Controller runs on batteries, while the Nano uses a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery charged over USB-C, with the cable sold separately. Microsoft lists it for use with XBOX, PC, mobile, and some smart TVs, the same spread as the existing wireless controller.

The XBOX Nano Controller cuts the standard pad from 230 g to about 99 g, a 57 percent drop. Microsoft is selling that weight loss at 8,000 yen in Japan, where the 2017 model still anchors the lineup.
XBOX Nano Controller drops the pad from 230 g to about 99 g. Microsoft prices that at 8,000 yen in Japan.
The XBOX Nano Controller trims the standard pad from 230 g to about 99 g, and from 15.3 cm to about 12.7 cm. Microsoft keeps both in the XBOX Wireless Controller lineup, so the smaller size is a second option rather than a replacement for the 2017 model.
Microsoft announced the XBOX Nano Controller on October 15, a smaller rechargeable pad joining the XBOX Wireless Controller lineup.
