He said treatment began within a week of onset and that two months of rehabilitation followed. He can now sit at his desk and work, and plans to resume activities while limiting strain on his mind and body.
Hashimoto ties the hearing loss to overwork and says he must work without excessive strain, which puts the schedule of Rappa: Yankee Ninpu Cho and any future Chiruran work on a slower footing than the magazine calendar implies.

Hashimoto wrote in May that the April diagnosis stemmed from overwork, and that the hearing loss in his right ear was temporary, bringing dizziness and vomiting. He now says it is permanent. In the September 15 post he said he started treatment within a week of onset and tried hospitals and private treatments hoping to recover at least half his hearing, without success. He described the loss of spatial and distance perception as the most dangerous part, and said it affects daily life, though he has adjusted. After about two months of rehabilitation he can stand, climb stairs, and walk a straight line without dizziness, and sit at his desk for long stretches.

Eiji Hashimoto confirmed on September 15 that he has fully lost hearing in his right ear, after sudden sensorineural hearing loss diagnosed in April.
