Kasia, who handled art and game design while her husband Kacper programmed, said real houseplants and real plant knowledge are the game's core. She named localization as the toughest task: finding the correct Japanese names for every houseplant in the game. Leafy Corner released for PC and Mac on July 31, supports Japanese, and costs 1,200 yen.
A two-person studio treating plant naming as the load-bearing localization problem is a small case study in how reference-heavy sims live or die on accuracy, not features.

The game shipped on July 31 for PC and Mac with Japanese support, priced at 1,200 yen. Kasia said the idea started as a personal one: she began collecting houseplants a few years ago, and a vague wish to make a game about them turned into a shop simulation. The pair are plant lovers first, and the game carries real information about each species it depicts. The part that proved hardest was not the simulation logic but the names. Working across languages meant tracking down the correct Japanese name for every plant in the game, one by one.

Fireline Games is two people: Kasia did art and design, Kacper programmed. Correct Japanese names for every houseplant in Leafy Corner fell on a staff with no localization department to hand it to.
Leafy Corner's plant-name localization fell to a two-person team. There is no localization department to hand the plant names to, which is why the research landed on the developers themselves.
Fireline Games gave Game Spark a short interview about Leafy Corner, the plant shop simulation it released for PC and Mac on July 31.
