A banner appears at the top of the page when the store is accessed from Japan, and the currency can also be switched by selecting JPY from the Currency menu at the bottom. US dollar display and payment remain available. The store, operated by GOG Sp. z o.o., is known for DRM-free PC games and for its GOG Preservation Program, which verifies older titles run on current Windows and fixes bugs. Titles such as SWAT 4: Gold Edition, Theme Park, Ultima Underworld 1+2, Nox, World in Conflict: Complete Edition, The Wheel of Time, and Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force are listed among its older catalog. Yen support follows earlier additions of Czech koruna and Turkish lira. Prices are not uniformly set for the Japanese market. SILENT HILL 2 is listed at 11,070 yen on GOG against 8,580 yen on Steam, and the 1996 Resident Evil at 1,580 yen against 1,000 yen on Steam. Baldur's Gate 3 sits at 8,499 yen on both stores.
The mixed yen pricing suggests GOG is converting some catalog prices from US dollars at roughly 158 yen per dollar rather than setting local prices per title, so the new currency option does not by itself close the gap with Steam.

GOG lists titles such as the tactical shooter SWAT 4: Gold Edition, which bundles the base game with the expansion The Stetchkov Syndicate, alongside Theme Park, Ultima Underworld 1+2, Nox, World in Conflict: Complete Edition, The Wheel of Time, and Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, a Raven Software-made FPS. The store began service in 2008 as Good Old Games and was renamed GOG.com in 2012.

Ownership changed in December, when CD PROJEKT Group co-founder Michal Kicinski bought 100% of the shares for 90.7 million Polish zloty, about 3.9 billion yen, in a personal buyout.

The Practical effect of yen pricing depends on the title. Transport Fever 3, released on September 30, is 7,900 yen on GOG against 6,990 yen on Steam, a gap of about 910 yen. Steam lets publishers set prices per country using purchasing power parity guidance rather than exchange rates alone, and updated its conversion tool in March to reflect recent data such as the weak yen. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 are priced the same as on other stores.

On sale timing, Baldur's Gate 3 was 31% off at 5,900 yen on GOG while Steam had it 30% off at 5,949 yen.
