Asked whether Allagan Tomestones would disappear, Yoshida said "Poetics" will disappear and asked players to hold out a few more months. Fishing bait will also become list-managed rather than held as items.
Poetics has been the currency players exchange for old gear since 2014, and retiring it means the game has to redirect that flow somewhere else, a change Yoshida is flagging months ahead rather than springing at patch notes.

Yoshida's answer did not cover what replaces Poetics or which patch removes it. The item has been obtained mainly from level 50 and above dungeons and trials and traded to NPCs for equipment since 2014. The same Q&A addressed inventory pressure on the fishing side: bait will be list-managed, so it no longer occupies item slots, and a "fishing bait notebook" function will narrow the list to bait usable at the spot being fished.

Naoki Yoshida's Q&A answer gave no exchange rate for Poetics, only a request to hold out a few more months. Retiring the currency without a stated replacement path leaves players guessing what their stock converts into.
Yoshida gave a timeline (a few more months), not a conversion plan for existing Poetics.
Naoki Yoshida told the Fan Festival Q&A that Allagan Tomestone of Poetics will go and asked players to hold out a few more months. A currency retirement without a stated conversion path means every player's stockpile has no announced exchange rate, so the wait is doing the work of a plan.
At the Tokyo Fan Festival Q&A, Naoki Yoshida confirmed FF14 will abolish the Allagan Tomestone of Poetics, asking players to hold out a few more months.
