The company says startup is faster, and that its first launch takes roughly half the time Steam needs. The build adds smoother movement between store and library, lower background system load, per-title activity and details, grid or list library views, favorites and themed collections, improved search, download speed readouts showing read and write status, and a combined view of in-progress and queued items.","whyItMatters":"The launcher's first launch time is the metric Epic is advertising against Steam, and it is shipping the rebuild as an opt-in preview to collect feedback before the official release.","webCardHtml":"\u003cp\u003eThe preview build is available from the Epic Games Store website, and Epic Games says it will collect user feedback before the launcher\u0026#39;s official release. The company describes the work as its largest overhaul to date, developed through vibe coding, in which development proceeds by giving instructions to AI. Epic Games Store launched at the end of 2018, and the launcher has been updated in phases since, from a wishlist in the early days to a news feed, filter functions, library display changes, and faster startup. Further updates, optimization, and new features are planned before the final version.\u003c/p\u003e","blueskyPost":"Epic is shipping the first-launch speed claim as a preview, not a stable release. Steam can match the cold-start number and still lose the argument if library, search, and download management feel slower daily.","twitterPost":"Epic is previewing the cold-start claim, not shipping it stable. The win holds only if daily library, search, and download flows keep up.","threadsPost":"Epic Games Store is previewing the startup claim rather than shipping it stable. Beating Steam on first launch is measurable, but the real test is whether the redesigned library, search, and download views hold up once the preview tag comes off and users live in it daily.","newsletterBlurb":"Epic Games has started distributing a preview version of a redesigned Epic Games Store launcher. Epic says startup is faster and the first launch takes roughly half the time of Steam's, alongside library views, collections, search changes, and download read and write readouts. Feedback will be collected before the official release.","attributionJson":"[{\"source\":\"Game Spark\",\"url\":\"http://www.gamespark.jp/article/2026/10/15/173611.html\",\"title\":\"Faster first launch than Steam!?
