The Wing Commander FMV footage was restored from master tapes found in an EA warehouse in March 2022, and user mods were incorporated.
The remasters rest on master tapes EA found in its own warehouse in March 2022, which is what lets the Wing Commander FMV be rebuilt rather than upscaled, and the studio folded existing user mods into the package.

EA's reissue list runs past the seven remasters to a long tail of ports. Wing Commander: Privateer, Academy and Armada join Strike Commander and Theme Hospital, and Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret return alongside the Ultima series. Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition required reacquiring the licenses for its music, and EA re-edited the live-action footage and added 60fps support. The FMV restoration draws mainly on master tapes found in an EA warehouse in March 2022.
