Overseas Metascores are 80 on PC from eight reviews, 74 on PS5 from seven, and 79 on Switch 2 from eight. The Xbox Series X version did not meet the review threshold and could not be scored.
The scores split along one line: reviewers who came for nostalgia rate the remaster well, and those who wanted a modern musou do not, which is the whole problem a straight port of a 2002 game has to live with.

Metacritic has no score for the Xbox Series X version, since it did not reach the required number of reviews. The scored versions are spread across roughly a dozen and a half reviews total, and the spread inside them is wide: The Outerhaven gives the PC version 90, while GamingTrend gives the Switch 2 version 70. The recurring note in the positive reviews is that the original game still holds up, not that the remaster adds much. The recurring note in the negative ones is that it makes no attempt to hide its age. Omega Force developed the original, and Koei Tecmo Games publishes this version.

Dynasty Warriors 2 Remaster scores 80 on PC, 74 on PS5, 79 on Switch 2. Metascore sits at 80 on PC, 74 on PS5, and 79 on Switch 2, with the Xbox Series X version unscored for too few reviews.
