The device runs Android internally with most functions disabled, but the creator enabled USB connection to a PC, launched a normal Android launcher, got web browsing working, then installed PrBoom, a multi-platform DOOM port. It runs with a smaller screen after some compilation settings changes, and also works in portrait orientation.
The 1,600 yen used translator booting DOOM shows that locked-down consumer gadgets often hide ordinary Android hardware, and the channel's other experiments suggest the translator is one stop in a wider run of device hacking.

The translator was bought used for 1,600 yen and arrived with most functions disabled. Internal access was not easy, and the creator went through repeated trial and error before enabling a USB connection to a PC.

Once a normal Android launcher booted, web browsing worked, and installing PrBoom brought DOOM up on the screen. Changing compilation settings shrinks the image, but the game also runs in portrait orientation. O-chazuke★Taro is running the same test on other electronics, not only the translator.

DOOM running on a 1,600 yen used Yume Translator required enabling USB, launching an Android launcher, and installing PrBoom. The screen shrinks after compilation tweaks, so the port is real but cramped.
DOOM on a 1,600 yen used Yume Translator needed USB enabled, an Android launcher, and PrBoom installed. The port runs, but the screen shrinks after settings changes.
DOOM on a 1,600 yen used Yume Translator is real. The creator enabled USB, launched an Android launcher, and installed PrBoom. It runs after compilation settings changes, with a smaller screen and portrait mode working. The hack shows how much Android sits hidden inside a device built for one job.
A YouTube channel has DOOM running on Yume Group's Yume Translator, a voice translator bought used for 1,600 yen.
