Discoverable Servers are servers whose administrators have listed them in Server Discovery, letting anyone find and join without an invite link. To qualify, a server must have at least 1,000 members, have existed for at least 8 weeks, and meet activity and safety standards. The change is limited to public channels of those servers; private servers, DMs, and group DMs are excluded. Users can opt out of having their own posts displayed through User Settings, Data & Privacy, and server administrators can choose which channels are covered or disable publication entirely. Discord says the aim is to make game strategy information and community knowledge, which has moved from forums into Discord conversations, reachable from outside.
Discord's stated reason for the change is that knowledge once kept on public forums is now locked inside invite-based servers and cannot be reached by outside search, so the company is turning part of its closed network back into a public bulletin board.

Server web pages arrive first. From November 16, every Discoverable Server gets a public page showing its category, supported languages, and an overview, published automatically if the administrator has not built one. Those pages may carry a "Channel Overview" summarizing what is discussed in public channels.

Discord counts 63,000 Discoverable Servers in its own announcement post on X, where it wrote: "If you've ever searched for a specific speedrun trick, someone has likely already answered it in a channel somewhere." At the time of the change, the server search page listed about 32,000 servers, including ones for Marvel Rivals, VALORANT, Logitech G, and a Japanese English International School server.

Three servers have been running the trial: NBA 2K, Rust, and Dead by Daylight. Announcements and update notices there can already be read on the web without joining. The trial shows only messages from administrators and moderators.

Regional defaults differ. Publication is on by default in Japan, so users there who want their posts kept off the web must switch it off themselves. The default is off in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea because of legal restrictions.

Turning the setting off does not retract what is already public. The conversations Google will index come from communities large enough to have admins who can switch publication off entirely.
Discord will make messages from Discoverable Servers findable on Google and other search engines starting mid-December 2026, with server web pages arriving November 16.
