Shares Ojamajo Doremi Crossover Cuts For Episode 39
Toei Animation released the synopsis and first-look cuts on October 24 for Episode 39 of Detective Precure!, titled "Ojamajo na Halloween," which airs October 25 on ABC TV and the TV Asahi network at 8:30 a.m. The episode is a Halloween story in which the four members of the Cute Detective Agency dress as witch apprentices from Ojamajo Doremi: Akachi Anna becomes Harukaze Doremi, Kobayashi Mikuru becomes Fujiwara Hazuki, Howa Crea becomes Senoo Aiko, and Moria Ruruka becomes Segawa Onpu. Producer Aramaki said Ojamajo Doremi appears as a TV anime within the show, and that the collaboration came together because Detective Precure! is set in 1999 and Ojamajo Doremi also began airing in 1999. He said Doremi herself cannot appear because she is a TV anime character, but asked viewers to enjoy the special direction that turns this on its head. The episode is scripted by Narita Yoshimi, directed by Shinohara Kana, and storyboarded by Shinohara Kana and Shigeya Hazuki.
Ojamajo Doremi producer Seki Hiromi singled out the storyboard assignment to Shinohara Kana and Shigeya Hazuki as a stylish arrangement, since the names echo the Doremi characters Hana-chan and Hazuki, a piece of casting logic that runs parallel to the on-screen costume gag.

The theft plot turns on Agesene, who appears disguised as a witch and steals a broom housing the Makoto Jewel from a lost girl named Hina. Anna and the others leave Hina with Jet-senpai and give chase. The witch footprints vanish partway, and they work out that Agesene changed costumes while fleeing. Because their own witch apprentice outfits have already been seen, the four decide to switch into other costumes to avoid notice, which is how the episode arrives at a second set of non-Doremi looks.

Behind the camera, Matsuura Hitomi is animation director and Xu Zhuxing handles art. The script is by Narita Yoshimi, who wrote for Ojamajo Doremi before becoming a regular Precure screenwriter. Seki Hiromi's comment on the storyboard pairing reads: "I was grateful for the stylish arrangement of having two directors named Hana-chan and Hazuki-chan handle the storyboard." Hana-chan and Fujiwara Hazuki are both major Doremi characters, and the line points to Shinohara Kana and Shigeya Hazuki, the two credited on Episode 39.

Toei frames the crossover as a meeting of two 1999-set Toei works, with Ojamajo Doremi described as a senior to the Precure series.

Producer Aramaki frames Ojamajo Doremi as a TV anime that exists inside Detective Precure!, so Doremi cannot appear in the crossover. The Halloween costumes carry the tribute instead.
Detective Precure! can dress as Ojamajo Doremi's apprentices, but Doremi herself stays a show-within-the-show. Producer Aramaki says she cannot appear.
Detective Precure! dresses its four leads as Ojamajo Doremi's witch apprentices, yet Producer Aramaki says Doremi herself cannot appear because she is a TV anime character inside the show's world. The costume tribute does the work the character cannot.
Toei Animation has released first-look cuts for Detective Precure!
