The series is scheduled to stream exclusively on Disney+ "Star" in 2027. The story follows a girl left isolated by the Death Stranding phenomenon, who has rejected connection with the world until a new encounter draws her into an unknown place. Around her are an old sage trying to restore the world's connections by unknown means, a female soldier trapped in destruction and conflict, and a boy angry at the world's absurdity. Tow Ubukata handles series composition and script. E&H production animates, with Takayuki Sano directing, Ilya Kuvshinov on original character design and Sayaka Koiso on character design. Hideo Kojima is executive producer.
The adaptation hands a Kojima Productions property to an outside animation studio for a hand-drawn series, and places it on Disney+ rather than a game-adjacent platform.

The teaser opens on a giant crater and a person gazing at it, with a blonde girl at the center; the key visual shows a girl standing beside a motorcycle and a small robot under the line "My mama became a crater."

Other footage shows a devastated world spread with giant craters and a girl sleeping in goggles that display "SLEEP."

The setting is the North American continent immediately after Sam Bridges linked it through the chiral network, as the former America tries to become whole again and that link brings new calamity.

Tow Ubukata is known for the science fiction novel "Mardock Scramble" and the historical novel "Tenchi Meisatsu," and has written series composition and scripts for "Ghost in the Shell: Arise" and "PSYCHO-PASS."

E&H production's credits include "NINJA KAMUI" and "BULLET/BULLET."

Ilya Kuvshinov, the original character designer, worked on "Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045."

Director Takayuki Sano said: "Elevating something like the human spirit, I think that is one of the jobs that entertainment can do.
