Developer nico built it so participants share a room code and join, skipping the usual routine of receiving someone's video, cropping it, and importing it into OBS. The free tier only allows joining; room creation is a paid version priced at 1,980 yen as an early access price.","whyItMatters":"ColaV attacks the most tedious part of collab streaming, the manual video capture and cropping step in OBS, by turning room participation into the whole compositing workflow, though the host tools sit behind the paid tier.","webCardHtml":"\u003cp\u003eVoice calls are left to everyday tools such as Discord; ColaV concentrates on video, layout, and effects. Participants send an avatar app\u0026#39;s screen, a webcam, or images, and every feed lands on one screen. Green backgrounds are chroma-keyed automatically, and webcam video can be cut out to show only the person, so no green screen is needed. Layouts include circle templates plus free drag-and-drop placement. Rooms carry a shared background, game screen sharing, and effects that detect the speaker from microphone volume.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe composited screen opens in its own window and goes into OBS through window capture. A Windows app on BOOTH joins the same rooms as the web version, adds Spout2 output that sends the composite to OBS as one source with transparency preserved, and includes a virtual camera.\u003c/p\u003e","blueskyPost":"ColaV makes room creation the paid feature and joining free, which inverts how most collab tools monetize. nico is charging the person who hosts, not the VTubers who show up.","twitterPost":"ColaV bills the host, not the guests: joining is free, room creation costs 1,980 yen through nico's early access pricing.","threadsPost":"ColaV's free tier covers joining only. Room creation sits behind a 1,980 yen early access price from developer nico. That puts the cost on whoever organizes the collab rather than the VTubers who drop in, which is the opposite of how most group tools price access.","newsletterBlurb":"Developer nico released ColaV, a browser tool that displays multiple VTubers' avatars on a single screen in real time. Participants share a room code instead of passing video back and forth to crop in OBS. Joining is free; room creation runs 1,980 yen as an early access price, with a Windows app on BOOTH adding Spout2 output and a virtual camera.","attributionJson":"[{\"source\":\"MoguLive\",\"url\":\"https://www.moguravr.com/colav-vtuber-collab-tool/\",\"title\":\"Streaming Tool \\\"ColaV\\\" Released to Make VTuber Collabs Easy\"}]","lintFlagsJson":null,"lintHits":0,"costUsd":0,"inputTokens":4514,"outputTokens":661,"status":"published","repairAttempts":0,"nextRepairAt":null,"factsAttemptedAt":1792046246,"createdAt":"2026-10-15T06:33:20.000Z","publishedAt":"2026-10-15T06:36:11.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-15T06:36:11.000Z"},"cluster":{"id":"c_a2fcedc2d66b8cc7ad8dc58b","canonicalTitle":"VTuberコラボを簡単にする配信ツール「ColaV」リリース","representativeArticleId":"a_2217c120f55dbab74c8dd99c","sourceCount":1,"writtenSourceCount":1,"writeAttempts":0,"isSolo":true,"entitiesJson":"{\"anime_titles\":[],\"manga_titles\":[],\"work_titles\":[\"ColaV\"],\"studios\":[],\"people\":[\"nico\"],\"type\":\"release\",\"domain\":\"vtuber\",\"is_roundup\":false}","contentType":"news","status":"published","firstSeenAt":"2026-10-15T05:00:00.000Z","lastSeenAt":"2026-10-15T05:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-15T06:36:08.000Z"},"attribution":[{"source":"MoguLive","url":"https://www.moguravr.com/colav-vtuber-collab-tool/","title":"VTuberコラボを簡単にする配信ツール「ColaV」リリース"}],"entities":{"anime_titles":[],"manga_titles":[],"work_titles":["ColaV"],"studios":[],"people":["nico"],"type":"release","domain":"vtuber","is_roundup":false},"keyFacts":null}
