He said the development team reached expressions he did not expect, and that he is proud of the finished product. The Saber Interactive horror survival action game launched October 8 for Windows via Steam and overseas for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. On Steam, 93% of 6,665 reviews recommend it.
Barker's approval lands as the strongest defense of a game whose explicitness already drew a temporary YouTube streaming ban, so the creator's endorsement now sits at the center of the argument over how far horror adaptations should go.

Barker was not a distant licensor. He advised the development team from the early stages of production, which gives his assessment of the finished game more weight than a standard endorsement.

What he feared was overcorrection: he expected the game to be sanitized. Instead, he told DreadCentral he was surprised the team could go as far as it did. The game's explicit material has drawn attention before, with a YouTube gameplay stream resulting in a channel ban that has since been restored. The Steam response is a separate data point: 93% of 6,665 reviews now recommend the game.

Clive Barker's relief over Hellraiser: Revival's censorship sits next to a 93% Steam score from 6,665 reviews, so the edge he feared losing is the same edge players are rewarding.
Clive Barker's fear of censorship gave way to a 93% Steam score for Hellraiser: Revival, so the edge he protected is what players reward.
Clive Barker expected Hellraiser: Revival to be censored and found the team reached expressions he did not expect.
