Players direct the dogs through commands such as driving, gather and follow, and wait and stay in place. Sheepdogs can be chosen from multiple breeds, each with characteristics that change how the flock is handled. The game is in development for Steam with Japanese interface support.
The footage puts the sheepdog command system and breed differences at the center of the pitch, framing Medieval Shepherd as a management sim whose difficulty comes from the dogs and the flock rather than combat alone.

The flock can be moved three ways: driving sends it to a chosen grazing area, gather and follow keeps escorts at its side while moving, and wait and stay in place parks the dogs to cover blind spots. Breeds split by role, with highly intelligent dogs answering instructions quickly and handling complex guidance, while power-type breeds absorb more damage and hit predators harder. Bows and spears are available against bandits and carnivorous beasts, and sheep can be bought and sold in nearby villages. Famine or plague raises prices and empties shop stock. Resources grow the base, which then allows a larger flock and stronger defenses.

100Year Games released gameplay footage for Medieval Shepherd, a sheepherding sim set in medieval Europe.
